MANICURING
This course is your choice for
licensing and preparation for a career as well as a nail
technician. The course includes all nail care areas such as
manicure, pedicure, sculptured nails, tips, overlays, silk
wraps, nail art.
The curriculum includes: Sanitation, Anatomy and Disorders,
Statute and Rules, Manicuring, Pedicuring, Chemistry,
Salesmanship, and State Laws. Sculptured Nail Techniques
include: Tips, Sculptures, Overlays, Fiberglass, Gel Nails, Nail
Wrapping, Acrylic Nails, and Nail Art.
You may start your career as a nail technician in a salon. As
you develop your knowledge and skills, you may want to move into
other career areas in the nail industry, including teaching nail
technology in cosmetology schools or demonstrating
manufacturer’s nail products at trade shows, conventions, or
stores. You can become a salon owner or even the personal nail
technician for fashion models or actors on the state, in movies,
or on TV. You can write, edit, or be a consultant for nail
technology books and magazines.

1. The Barbering and Cosmetology Act and
the Board’s Rules and Regulations
2. Cosmetology Chemistry pertaining to manicuring practices
3. Health and safety/Hazardous Substances
4. Disinfection and sanitation
5. Bacteriology, anatomy, physiology
6. Water and oil manicures, including hand and arm massage
7. Complete pedicure, including foot and ankle massage
8. Application of Artificial Nails
9. State Board Examination Preparation
10. Manicuring Career and Salon Management
11. Advanced topics: Acrylic nails, Nail arts, and French nails.
